The Government of Haryana vide notification No. 28/67/2008-1HR-1 dated 22-Dec-2023, declared list of holidays for the year 2024.

The Government of Jammu and Kashmir vide notification No. 1582-JK(GAD) of 2023 dated 11-Dec-2023, declared list of holidays for the year 2024

The Administrator of Chandigarh vide Notification No.6/1/1-IH(I)-2023/17123dated 15-Dec-2023 declared the list of holidays for the year 2024.

The Government of Nagaland vide Notification on its website declared list of holidays for the year 2024.

The Administrator of Manipur vide Gazette Notification No.203 dated 8-Dec-2023declared the list of holidays for the year 2024

The Government of Madhya Pradesh vide Sl.F.3-8-2023-A-4dated 21-Dec-2023 declared the list of holidays for the year 2024.

The Government of Punjab vide notification No.06/03/2023/2PP3/702dated 12-Dec-2023, declared list of holidays for the year 2024.

The Government of Telangana vide Government Order No. Rt. No.1633 dated 12-Dec-2023and the Joint Commissioner of Labour, Hyderabad vide notification No. B/5185/2023 dated 18-Dec-2023, declared list of holidays for the year 2024 for Telangana State and twin cities of Hyderabad respectively.

The Government of Uttarakhand vide notification No. I/177725/2023dated 26-Dec-2023, declared list of holidays for the year 2024.

Declaration of Holiday on Account of Bye-Election in Rajasthan

The Government of Rajasthan vide Serial Number P.16(1)V.M/2023, has announced the holidays on occasion of bye-election on 10-Jan-2024 in Panchayat Raj and Municipal areas of various districts.

Minimum Wages Notification in States

The Government of Assam vide Order dated 05-Dec-2023, notified the minimum wages to different categories of scheduled employments effective from 01-Jun-2023.

The Government of West Bengal vide Order dated 12-Dec-2023, notified the minimum wages to different categories of scheduled employments effective from 01-Jan-2024.

The Lt. Governor (Administrator) of Andaman and Nicobar Islands vide Order dated 27-Dec-2023, notified the minimum wages to different categories of scheduled employments with effect from 01-Jan-2024.

Manipur Labour Laws Ordinance

The Government of Manipur vide Gazette Notification dated 29-Dec-2023, notified the Ordinance for exemption from renewal of registration and license under labour laws in Manipur, wherein subject to an employer furnishing a self-certification form by 31st January every year, it shall not be necessary for an employer to renew registration under Contract Labour Act, Inter State Migrant Workmen Act and Building and Other Construction Workers Act.

EPFO process flow to avoid fraudulent withdrawal or suspicious transactions

The Employees Provident Fund Organisation vide No. FIA/11(22)/SOP/Freezing UAN/2022(E-49005)/11 , has issued Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for identifying the suspicious accounts/transactions and thereupon freezing/de-freezing MID/UAN/Establishment for a period of maximum 30 days to avoid fraudulent withdrawal.

EPFO FAQ on Higher Pension Judgment of Supreme Court

EPFO vide Circular No.2543 dated 13-Dec-2023, provided frequently asked questions with answers relating to documentary evidence for joint option under Para 26(6), wherein inter-alia, the employees can submit the joint request at the time of final claim settlement through their last employer. Further Regional Provident Fund Commissioners are not permitted to reject the application for validation of Joint Option for non-submission of Para 26(6) declaration.

Pension on Higher Wages Time extended to employers by five months to upload wage details

Ministry of Labour and Employment vide Press Release dated 03-Jan-2024 extended the timeline for submitting wage details by employers till 31-May-2023. In view of representations received from Employers & Employers’ Associations, the time was earlier extended by three months from 30-Sep-2023 to 31-Dec-2023 for uploading wage details of applicant pensioners / members and in order to ensure that employers process these remaining applications for Validation of Option / Joint Options.
