S.O.454(E) has notified that, under the Code on Wages, 2019, the wage ceiling for determining whether a person employed in a supervisory capacity qualifies as a “worker” is ₹18,000 per month. Karnataka Notification of the Karnataka Labour Welfare Fund (Amendment) Act, 2025 The Government of Karnataka Vide No.12, has released Notification of the Karnataka Labour Welfare Fund (Amendment) Act, 2025. amends the 1965 Act by lowering the establishment threshold from 50 to 10 workers and enabling online payment modes. The Act received the Governor’s assent on 06 January 2026 and came into immediate effect. Advisory for payment of Profession tax for the month of February 2026 The Government of Karnataka Vide No.PTO-1.2/Advisory Note/2025-26, has released Advisory for payment of Profession tax for the month of February 2026. the Profession Tax payable for February is revised to ₹300 per employee. Employers are instructed to remit this amount under their registered RC for February 2026. It also repeals the earlier 2020 Ordinance while validating all actions taken under it. Tamil Nadu Memorandum regarding Introduction of Combined Annual Returns under Tamil Nadu Shops and Establishments Rules, 1948 The Government of Tamil Nadu, through Memorandum No. S2/50266/2017, has introduced a system of Combined Annual Returns under the Tamil Nadu Shops and Establishments Rules, 1948. As part of this initiative, Form‑ZC has been added for Tamil Nadu. Filing this combined annual return is not mandatory and is applicable only to four specific categories of establishments, namely catering establishments, beedi industrial premises, motor transport undertakings, and establishments engaged in inter‑state migrant work. This optional consolidated filing mechanism is intended to simplify compliance for these select establishment types.
