The Government of Rajasthan vide Serial Number P.16(1)V.M/2023, has announced the holidays on occasion of bye-election on 10-Jan-2024 in Panchayat Raj and Municipal areas of various districts.
Minimum Wages Notification in States
The Government of Assam vide Order dated 05-Dec-2023, notified the minimum wages to different categories of scheduled employments effective from 01-Jun-2023.
The Government of West Bengal vide Order dated 12-Dec-2023, notified the minimum wages to different categories of scheduled employments effective from 01-Jan-2024.
The Lt. Governor (Administrator) of Andaman and Nicobar Islands vide Order dated 27-Dec-2023, notified the minimum wages to different categories of scheduled employments with effect from 01-Jan-2024.
Manipur Labour Laws Ordinance
The Government of Manipur vide Gazette Notification dated 29-Dec-2023, notified the Ordinance for exemption from renewal of registration and license under labour laws in Manipur, wherein subject to an employer furnishing a self-certification form by 31st January every year, it shall not be necessary for an employer to renew registration under Contract Labour Act, Inter State Migrant Workmen Act and Building and Other Construction Workers Act.
EPFO process flow to avoid fraudulent withdrawal or suspicious transactions
The Employees Provident Fund Organisation vide No. FIA/11(22)/SOP/Freezing UAN/2022(E-49005)/11 , has issued Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for identifying the suspicious accounts/transactions and thereupon freezing/de-freezing MID/UAN/Establishment for a period of maximum 30 days to avoid fraudulent withdrawal.
EPFO FAQ on Higher Pension Judgment of Supreme Court
EPFO vide Circular No.2543 dated 13-Dec-2023, provided frequently asked questions with answers relating to documentary evidence for joint option under Para 26(6), wherein inter-alia, the employees can submit the joint request at the time of final claim settlement through their last employer. Further Regional Provident Fund Commissioners are not permitted to reject the application for validation of Joint Option for non-submission of Para 26(6) declaration.
Pension on Higher Wages Time extended to employers by five months to upload wage details
Ministry of Labour and Employment vide Press Release dated 03-Jan-2024 extended the timeline for submitting wage details by employers till 31-May-2023. In view of representations received from Employers & Employers’ Associations, the time was earlier extended by three months from 30-Sep-2023 to 31-Dec-2023 for uploading wage details of applicant pensioners / members and in order to ensure that employers process these remaining applications for Validation of Option / Joint Options.
